CWMCARN Paragon / Dudley Shopfitters / Pontllanfraith Carpets, star roadman Richard Harris, lined up with many of the top professional riders in the world, Cavendish, Miller, Thomas, Hammond, Froome and Wiggins, to contest the British Elite Road Race Championship, at Abergavenny on Sunday 28th. 200 kms of tough undulating Welsh roads, which included the fearsome climb of the Tumble and 10 high speed laps of a finishing circuit awaited, a big ask for an amateur club rider.

IN Section A leaders Newport Asians beat rivals Millennium A by 5 runs. Mudassar got them underway to a useful 176 - 3 with 34 and runs down the order from Akhtar with 60 and Iftikhar 30 both unbeaten cemented the strong position. Imran responded with a fine 92 for Millennium A but Mudassar capped a fine game with 4 wickets as Millennium fell just short. Ponthir recorded their first win of the season by 31 runs against Caerleon Saints. Alan Jones did most of the damage with 92 of the 144 - 4 total. The Saints managed 113 - 5 in reply with Ben Davies (63) and Tom Higgins (35) top scoring but they fell well short. Ponthir skipper Kerry Baldwin took 2 - 24.
