NEWPORT sprint star Mica Moore has been named in a strong Wales team to compete at the annual Loughborough International Athletics on Sunday, May 17.

Moore, who helped the Welsh women’s 4x100m relay team to a national record at last summer’s Commonwealth Games, joins Glasgow 2014 silver medalist Sally Peake in the team.

Also included are World Junior Championships bronze medalist David Omoregie and European Indoor Championships silver medalist Laura Maddox.

Maddox will captain the Wales team with pole vaulter Paul Walker, who finished fifth in Glasgow.

The traditional outdoor season opener sees Wales take on teams from England, Scotland, Loughborough students past and present, GB Juniors and the British Universities team.

In total nine athletes who represented Team Wales at Glasgow 2014 are present; Moore, Peake, Walker, Hannah Brier, Carys Parry, Curtis Matthews, Brett Morse, Osian Jones and Lee Doran.

Former Commonwealth Games finalist Elaine O’Neill returns to a Welsh vest as part of a team ranging from 16 to 33 years of age.

There are first senior Welsh vests for several athletes including Stevie Stockton, Deborah Willis, Rebecca Chapman, Amelia Reynolds, Jonathon Bailey and Iori Moore.
