GWENT involvement in the BDO World Darts Championship has come to an end following a first-round defeat for debutant Chris Harris at the Lakeside Country Club in Surrey.
Gilwern’s Harris had come through a preliminary round match against Turkey’s Umit Uygunsozlu to set-up an encounter with fellow Welshman Dean Reynolds.
However, the tournament 12th seed from Cardiff had too much firepower for Harris and comfortably won the best-of-five set clash 3-0.
Reynolds will now face England’s two-time champion Scott Waites in the last 16 on Wednesday night, with the winner facing either Belgian Andy Baetens or 2015 Lakeside king Scott Mitchell.
Harris' exit follows defeats for other Gwent players Nick Kenny and Rhian Griffiths, who also lost in round one.
