HALLAM Amos didn't have long to lick his wounds after Newport Gwent Dragons' defeat to Connacht but the Wales winger doesn't expect his training toil to earn a Six Nations debut in Paris.

The 20-year-old scored a brace at Rodney Parade on Sunday afternoon as the region battled for a bonus point in shocking conditions after playing for over an hour with 14 men because of Rynard Landman's red card.

While his teammates deservedly put their feet up after a monumental effort, Amos was up early for a 7.30am start at the national squad's Vale of Glamorgan headquarters ahead of Saturday's encounter with

"No rest for the wicked and it's a big week," he said. "There are not many bigger games than France in Paris and I am sure we will all be ready for it. From a physicality point of view we can mix it with the best in the world."

Nonetheless, Amos expects to be in Italy rather than France this weekend, taking on Zebre with the Dragons on Sunday rather than Les Bleus in Paris on Saturday.

He has been released by Warren Gatland to feature for his region against Leinster and Connacht and predicts that his boss will be picking between George North, Alex Cuthbert and Liam Williams to join Leigh Halfpenny in the back three.

"I am not expecting anything this weekend but hopefully I'll get my shot in the weeks and months leading up to the World Cup," said Amos, whose solitary cap came against Tonga in the autumn of 2013.

"If not included hopefully I'll be back with the Dragons to have a good go against Zebre.

"It's tough and my housemates rip into me for just being a tackle bag holder! But everyone has to go through this and I've spoken with senior players that I've roomed with and they've told me to grab the opportunity when it comes with both hands."

Amos expects to receive some criticism from Wales kicking coach Neil Jenkins this week after yet another chargedown led to a Connacht try in the closing stages.

To his great credit he made up for it with a second score from the final play to ensure the Dragons got the bonus point that their efforts deserved.

Amos "Scoring two tries was nice but it was my fourth chargedown this season and something that I've got to work on with Shaun (Connor, Dragons backs coach) and Lyn (Jones, director of rugby) to get my kick away earlier."

"It was always going to be tough after going down to 14 so early but we showed some real spirit and character to come back into it and be there at the death.

"A couple of seasons ago we would have collapsed and there was the Glasgow game where we lost 60-3. It could've turned into one of them but fair play to the boys, we dug deep and it was a spirited performance, especially from the forwards in that weather."
