TYLER Morgan is set for a swift return in Newport Gwent Dragons' Guinness Pro12 opener against Connacht following his World Cup disappointment.

The 19-year-old from Caerleon was left out of Wales' squad for the tournament on Monday when Warren Gatland opted for Cardiff Blues centre Cory Allen instead.

Morgan, who won his first cap in the Test against Ireland at the Millennium Stadium at the start of August, will be brought straight back into the Dragons fold in Galway and will be keen to keep sharp should he be needed to answer an injury SOS.

"Tyler will fit back in very easily," said director of rugby Lyn Jones. "He is disappointed after being released but is keen to get on the field and we will be doing what we can to include him in our matchday squad.

"Tyler will be hitting his second World Cup at the age of 23 and just because he has not made the cut on this occasion, Wales are carrying just three centres and he is just a phone call away from being included.

"For now it's a disappointment but it's been a very positive couple of months for him in that he has trained in an excellent environment with very good players. That will have brought him on as an individual tenfold."

The Dragons have confirmed that centre Jack Dixon will be out for a minimum of three months with the kidney injury he suffered in the pre-season clash with the Scarlets.

Wales lock Andrew Coombs is targeting an autumn return after suffering a setback in his return from the knee injury he suffered in the European Rugby Challenge Cup quarter-final win against Cardiff Blues last April.

Hooker Elliot Dee will sit out the Connacht encounter after his pre-season regime was disrupted by a bump suffered against Nottingham but tighthead Brok Harris is set to don his boots at the Sportsground after sitting out the region's three friendlies.

There are likely to be debuts for centre Adam Warren, wing Nick Scott, scrum-halves Sarel Pretorius and Charlie Davies, tighthead Shaun Knight and back row forward Ed Jackson.
