PROP Brok Harris believes Newport Gwent Dragons need to curb their enthusiasm if they are to enjoy derby delight at the Scarlets this evening, writes Chris Kirwan.

The Dragons are attempting to end a eight-year wait for victory in Llanelli, a miserable streak that dates back to their 30-23 success at Stradey Park during the 2007 World Cup.

They are huge underdogs for tonight's clash (kick-off 6pm) after showing faltering form so far this season while the hosts are soaring high with a perfect five from five.

But tighthead Harris is confident that the Dragons can cause an upset – as long as they reduce the errors that have blighted the opening rounds of the Guinness Pro12.

"Everyone is positive after a good win against Treviso last week but there are still a lot of work-ons," said the South African.

"If we give the Scarlets as much turnover ball as we did Treviso then we will be in trouble so that's the big focus along with discipline.

"There's been a bit of over eagerness (in attack) and maybe we need to relax a bit more. The guys were out to prove a point and put in a big performance for the crowd so we just need to be more composed and keep hold of the ball.

"The Scarlets have been playing good rugby and have set the benchmark but the tough challenge is good for us as underdogs."

It's approaching a year since Harris headed to Rodney Parade fresh from his Currie Cup winning exploits with Western Province and the 30-year-old has made quite an impression with tonight set to be his 30th appearance.

"It's been a great learning curve, especially with the different mindset when it comes to the scrum, lineout and mauling for penalties," said the former Stormers front rower.

"The Scarlets are playing so well because they have a platform up front. Their general work in the rucks and mauls is pretty good and we can't allow them to dominate us there. As the old cliché goes, it's settled up front."

The Dragons make four changes to the XV that beat Treviso, bringing in number eight Taulupe Faletau, scrum-half Charlie Davies, fly-half Dorian Jones and lock Rynard Landman, who captains the side.

The Scarlets include Wales World Cup players Ken Owens and Jake Ball in their squad along with former Cross Keys pair Lewis Rawlins and Jack Condy.
