NEWPORT Gwent Dragons fly-half Angus O'Brien finished as the top scorer in the Guinness PRO12 this season.

The 22-year-old from Caerleon racked up 131 points in 19 league games this season with his conversion of Sam Beard's 80th-minute try in the season finale against Cardiff Blues, stretching him three clear of Steve Shingler.

The fly-half kicked 27 penalties, three drop goals, 18 conversions and scored one try in the PRO12 after an invaluable season in which the former Wales Under-20s international dominated the 10 jersey in the absence of the injured Nick Macleod and Dorian Jones.

He finished with a league success rate of 78.9 per cent from the tee after bisecting the posts with 45 of 57 efforts. The Ospreys' Sam Davies won the PRO12 Rhino Golden Boot award with an 88 per cent success rate after slotting 44 from 50.

In the stats provided by Opta, Dragons captain Lewis Evans finished third in the tackle count on 238 behind Edinburgh lock Ben Toolis (247) and Ulster flanker Sean Reidy (263). Nic Cudd was fifth (224).

Ollie Griffiths won 'bronze' for turnovers (21) behind the Scarlets James Davies and Leinster's Dan Leavy (both 27).
