ALED Brew admitted that being dropped from the Wales set-up convinced him that the time was right to move abroad.
The 25-year-old winger yesterday confirmed that he will be leaving Newport Gwent Dragons for a European club.
His destination has not been confirmed but he is expected to pen a deal with French giants Biarritz.
Brew has scored 40 tries for the region and his form last season earned a place in Wales’ World Cup squad.
But head coach Warren Gatland has looked elsewhere in his bid to replace Shane Williams.
Alex Cuthbert started the Six Nations clashes against Ireland and Scotland while Cardiff Blues teenager Harry Robinson was selected ahead of Brew in the training squad.
“Not being chosen for the Six Nations squad has played a part in my decision to move abroad but I also feel that experience in a different league will make me a better player,” said eight-times capped Brew.
“I’m looking forward to moving abroad but I also leave the Dragons with a heavy heart.
“The Dragons couldn’t have done any more to keep me in Wales, they made me a fantastic offer to stay but I just feel the time is right for me and my young family to experience a new culture, way of life and also a new rugby experience.”
