Fifty homes on a new Witham housing estate will pay about £1,500 to Hatfield Peverel Parish Council in tax.
The Lodge Farm site off Hatfield Road in Witham has been earmarked for 700 homes but part of the site crosses the border into the parish of Hatfield Peverel.
At the latest LDF sub-committee councillors said the boundary was an anomaly that was out of date and needed clarifying.
But for now precept from the 50 homes is set to be paid to the parish council rather than Witham Town Council.
A public consultation on the masterplan for the 700 homes, and community facilities such as a school, is expected in Autumn this year.
A planning application could then be submitted by late 2014 with work on the houses expected to start by 2015/16.
As part of Braintree Council’s agreement for the extra 100 homes on the site, councillors stated the development must be phased from 2017 to 2026, meaning none of the homes can be completed before 2017.
