NEWPORT RFC’S home encounter with Aberavon has been shifted from a Saturday to a Tuesday.
The Black and Ambers will now host the Wizards on February 4 (kick-off 7.30pm) rather than February 8.
The move is necessary because Welsh Rugby Union rules do not allow games at the same time as international fixtures (Wales play Ireland in Dublin), although it will give the Rodney Parade pitch a welcome breather.
Newport County welcome Fleetwood to the city on the Friday and Newport Gwent Dragons host Edinburgh on the Sunday.
The fixture alteration does mean that the Black and Ambers’ wait for action is reduced.
They have not taken to the field since beating Bedwas on December 21 because of postponements and Bonymaen’s withdrawal from the Swalec Cup.
