GAMES between these two clubs are usually tight affairs and this one at Church Bank was no exception with a draw a fair result writes Huw S Thomas.

Both sides were tied on 15 Premiership points before the game – the Keys in fifth and the Drovers in sixth - and the chances are that there will be little between them come the end of the season.

The game kicked off late because of lighting problems and Llandovery were soon ahead with a penalty from fly half James Garland before a clever kick from opposite number Angus O’Brien set up a try for flanker Reuben Tucker.

O’Brien converted and with the Keys pack stronger in tight and loose, the visitors twice came close to tries.

Against the run of play, Garland kicked two penalties for a 9-7 lead but that disappeared when Keys lock Simon Williams was driven over from a close range line out.

Home scrum half Lee Rees was yellow carded for foul play near the break before Garland missed a penalty to bring the scores level.

An O’Brien penalty made it 15-9 prior to Rees’s return but when Keys flanker Carl Townsend was carded, a Garland kick closed the gap.

It was nip and tuck and evenly matched but a yellow card for hooker Luke Lewis allowed O’Brien to hit a good penalty before a yellow for Keys hooker Darren Hughes gave Garland the chance to make it 18-15.

Yet another yellow - for full back James Cordy-Redden - saw Garland tie the scores with three minutes to go but Keys hung on bravely for the draw
