Two men failed to find the funny side of clowns and fought them in the street.
A small group of local people on a night out dressed as clowns got into a fight with two men in George Street, Hastings at 10.30pm on Saturday.
One of the clowns, a 22-year old Hastings man, received a wound to his shoulder which required treatment at Conquest Hospital.
Police are keen to speak to any witnesses including a man who is believed to have filmed the incident on his phone.
Anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 1687 of 8/6.
