TREDEGAR RFC are appealing to their neighbouring clubs for help in recruiting players.
The famous north Gwent club have experienced something of a downturn in fortunes in recent times due to a lack of players.
But there has been a change in personnel at the club over the summer months with the objective of taking the club forward and sustaining a consistent player-base.
The club is under new management and have recently refurbished the former living quarters at the club which is now a facility for the youth team.
With grassroots rugby in the north Gwent valley seeing a remarkable decline in players at senior level, Tredegar are appealing to other clubs in the area to provide help and assistance in recruiting players.
A statement from the club reads: "Several senior sides in the area have extensive squads with a surplus of players who would benefit from playing for clubs such as Tredegar in National League Division Two East.
"It is essential for the survival of Tredegar RFC and other clubs in the area that assistance and partnership working with neighbouring clubs is adopted.
"Permitting or loaning players will ensure the survival of these clubs who are constantly battling just to ensure a side takes to the field on a Saturday.
"On a wider scale Newport Gwent Dragons could possibly take the lead on placing their academy and associated players with clubs in the same situation.
"It will be to the detriment of the game in north Gwent and possibly for the other clubs in Gwent if player resources are not disseminated between clubs.
"If any club is interested in supplying players to the former merit table team then please contact team manager Nolan Nicklin on 07753325577."
