EBBW Vale marked their return to the Principality Premiership with a superb 30-29 bonus point win over Llandovery at Eugene Cross Park in a thriller.
Last season's league runners-up Keys got their campaign off to a flyer with a bonus point win of their own after beating Aberavon 33-18 away.
But there was woe for Newport after the Black and Ambers were battered away by Carmarthen Quins who recorded an emphatic 44-10 victory.
