NEWPORT Gwent Dragons have bolstered their backs with the signings of Adam Warren and Nick Scott.

Once-capped Wales centre Warren,24, heads east from the Scarlets while wing/centre Scott, 25 on Saturday, is reunited with his former London Welsh boss Lyn Jones.

The pair will provide welcome options behind the scrum following the retirement of 27-year-old centre Ashley Smith because of concussion and potential World Cup call-ups for wing Hallam Amos and centres Tyler Morgan and Jack Dixon, who will spend pre-season with Wales rather than the Dragons.

Warren, capped in the 2012 game against the Barbarians, was offered a fresh deal by the Scarlets but opted to move to Rodney Parade in search of more regular rugby after making eight appearances last term.

He has the ability to play both inside and outside centre and joins Pat Leach, Ross Wardle, Carl Meyer, Morgan and Dixon as a midfield option.

“I'm excited for a new challenge,” said Warren, who was a member of the Wales sevens squad in addition to his Scarlets commitments season.

“The Dragons are a developing side with a lot of young players and I am looking forward to training and playing with the boys, whilst adding my experience to the back line.

“I'm looking forward to a big pre-season and working towards the 2015/16 season with the aim to get good game time and make a good impression at the club.”

Scott came though the academy at Bath after being schooled at Colston’s in Bristol and moved to the Exiles in 2012.

With Amos in with a great chance of making Warren Gatland’s final World Cup squad, Scott will provide some added firepower in the opening months of the season.

“As an outsider looking in, it is clearly a club making progress, with a batch of talented young players,” he said.

“On a personal level I’m relishing the prospect of working with and continuing my development under Lyn Jones again.

“I enjoyed my time with Lyn at London Welsh and I’m looking forward to working in the environment he creates again.”

The Dragons have now signed five new recruits for next season with the pair following number eight Ed Jackson and scrum-half Charlie Davies from Wasps and Cheetahs scrum-half Sarel Pretorius through the entrance door.
