LLOYD Burns and Rhys Thomas have convinced a raft of former Wales internationals to dust off the boots and take to the field again for a charity fundraiser at Pandy Park.

The two ex-Dragons and Wales front row forwards will manage teams for a friendly clash in Cross Keys on Saturday, May 21 (kick-off 3pm).

The pair both had to end their careers early because of heart conditions and their chosen charities – Welsh Hearts for hooker Burns, the British Heart Foundation for tighthead prop Thomas – will profit from the event.

The likes of Gavin Thomas, Jason Forster, Ceri Jones, Barry Davies, Adam Black, Nathan Brew, Hal Luscombe, Andy Powell and Lenny Woodard will line up for the Thomas XV.

Burns has called on Richie Rees, Steve 'Jabba' Jones, Morgan Stoddart, Shaun Connor, Scott Morgan, Adam Jones and a number of his former Keys teammates.

The former front rowers' children are set to be mascots and the only down side to what promises to be a memorable occasion for Burns is that the former Keys captain won't be getting back out in the middle at his old stomping ground.

The 31-year-old, who won seven caps and played at the 2011 World Cup, said: "I'd obviously give my right arms to play but I can't so I'll just have to sit back and enjoy it while the boys have to work hard!

"It's good to be sharing a game with a fellow front rower, I suppose that me and Rhys have the same feelings after having to finish our rugby careers early with similar problems.

"I guess that's brought us both closer together and it's good to have someone to talk about it to. Rhys is a good guy and it should be a really nice day.

"It's also going to be special for me that it's at Cross Keys, where I played most of my rugby and I have a lot of fond memories of playing there."

There will also be a mini rugby game (kick-off 11am) and post-match entertainment provided by the band 4th Street as well as activities for the family and a hog roast.

Tickets cost £6.50 and are available from the Pandy Park clubhouse or can be bought on the day.
