LOCK Scott Andrews will make his Ealing Trailfinders debut at London Irish on Sunday after joining the English Championship club on loan from Newport Gwent Dragons, writes Chris Kirwan.

The 22-year-old from Marshfield has headed to Vallis Way in the search of regular rugby after finding himself behind Rynard Landman, Nick Crosswell, Cory Hill, Matthew Screech and Joe Davies in the pecking order at Rodney Parade.

Former Wales Under-20s forward Andrews has made just one appearance for the Dragons – as a replacement in the home Guinness Pro12 win against Leinster last season – but did feature in the pre-season loss to Ealing in Ystrad Mynach.

He slots into the second row for the trip to the Madejski Stadium to face a London Irish side attempting to bounce back to the Aviva Premiership.

Andrews joins a sizeable contingent of former Dragons at the Trailfinders with former scrum-halves Alex Walker and Josh Davies, wing Will Harries and hooker/flanker Arthur Ellis on their books along with ex-Cross Keys utility back James Cordy-Redden.

The lock will hope to develop his game under the watchful eye of former England and Harlequins lock Alex Codling, the former Ebbw Vale boss who is head coach in Ealing.

The Dragons Premiership Select XV will face the Trailfinders in the British and Irish Cup this season.
