NEWPORT have bolstered their backs ahead of the Premiership campaign with two more signings.

The Black and Ambers have agreed deals with Will Hodnett and Will Richards after they impressed in pre-season training. The pair both played for Herefordshire club Luctonians in the English Division Two North last season.

Hodnett featured at fly-half but, after making his mark with his fitness and pace, will be considered as a wing for Newport while South Africa-born Richards is a hard-running centre or full-back.

Head coach Sven Cronk said: “Their signings bolster our backline and provides us with strength in depth. They are exciting young players and we are expecting them to make a big impact in a black and amber jersey.”

Their arrival takes Newport’s number of new signings up to 19. Earlier in the close season they secured the services of of full-back Geraint O’Driscoll, centres Dan Robinson and Adam Davies, fly-halves Tom Hancock and Scott Sneddon, scrum-halves Rhys Downes, James Leadbeater and Andrew Quick, props Gethin Robinson, James Jones and John Lavender, hooker Ryan Prosser, lock Rhodri Jones and back rowers Ross Coombs, Rhys Jenkins, Craig Attwell and Craig Everett.
