WHAT a great way to end the season - that was the reaction of Newport Gwent Dragons coach Paul Turner after his team had beaten Magners League champions Leinster and earned a standing ovation from a delighted crowd.

The Dragons obtained a bonus point for scoring four tries in only 20 minutes and played their most sparkling, creative rugby of the season in a cracking match.

"Some of our rugby was the best since I've been here, and Leinster paid us respect with the side they sent over," said Turner.

"I'm a bit puzzled why we didn't play like that earlier in the season. We had a good balance, half backs Wayne Evans and Jason Tovey played well, there were huge performances from Colin Charvis and Luke Charteris and Andrew Hall had by far his best game for the region while players like Rhodri Davies and Phil Dollman played their part.

"But my heart was in my mouth when we turned them over in stoppage time and didn't kick the ball out. That could have been the story of the season again.

"Leinster are a dangerous side and it was a great spectacle. To beat them you've got to make about 120 tackles.

"It was an emotional night with Jim McCreedy leaving and some players going as well."

A message for the Dragons board: do EVERYTHING you can to keep Charvis with us and playing next season. Age? Not on his side, but he plays with utter commitment and inspires players around him on the field.
Regardless of the kiwi contingent coming in, Charvis still has a lot to offer!!!

I agree, we must keep Charvis. So what he's mid thirties he plays better than men ten years younger than him. He's consistent, good leader. Don't let him go somewhere else. Also good luck to Sweeney at Cardiff.

Congrats on the win lads. Promising signs for next season - just hope Charvis signs up for another year! All the best to the players leaving Rodney Parade.

Fine fine win, made the Friday journey well worth while. Lets hope CC stays for another year (or two), his presence out there is amazing.

Where's all the doom and gloom merchants? Sack Turner? Will Godfrey has to go !!

Sometimes it takes time for things to come together. Last night proved that buying in players isn't the be all and end all of welsh rugby. There is talent locally as well as abroad.

what about Colin Charvis taking over from Jim McCreedy. everyone looks up to him and respects him the dragons need to keep him at all costs

Sack Turner? I'm up for that. The most danining part of Friday is he can;t tell us why players turned up and did their job on Friday who haven't all season. It doesn;t take a genius to figure out why the side looked so much better with Tovey at 10 compared to Sweeney either...

Give PT some credit he is throwing players in and making gems of them. PT will get it right - get behind the guy pre-season as exciting times are ahead.

Amazing to see that, despite all the bluster about the Ospreys being the 'Super Region' the Dragons finished just 3 points short of them and 5 short of the Scarlets. I am looking forward to the new season bolstered by the arrival of some good new players, and the departure of some lightweights.

I think Paul Turner is doing a great job myself. Hes actually going out into the Gwent region and plucking the best talent available. Okay you wont get overnight success but long term I think the Dragons will be better for it. bringing in too may foreigners will again ruin the domestic game in Wales and the sooner we all buy into the concept the better in my opinion.

As for Friday's win, perhaps thats a glimpse of what they can do when they click. Dont forget there are a lot of youngsters in that side and need time to Gel. Next season I think will be the making of them, and looking at the Dragons u21s contingent you have to say theres plenty coming through...as long as we keep them in Gwent!!

Er, just a reality check here chaps,....Leinster had nothing to play for, had they and things would have been very different, just keep your feet on the ground before rushing out for your season tickets.

The Dragons had 'nothing to play for' either, HC qualification was already a done deal. What's your point, other than being negative? The team gave us something to cheer for at long last and I for one loved every Gwent regional minute of it!
