LIONS stars Dan Lydiate and Jamie Roberts could be heading home to Wales from Racing Metro this week, according to reports in France.

L’Equipe writes that blindside flanker Lydiate and centre Roberts could leave the Parisians before the start of European action following negotiations with the Welsh Rugby Union.

Lydiate and Roberts signed for Racing Metro last season but coach Laurent Labit is quoted as saying they have “never really performed since their arrival”.

It is not clear whether the plan would be for the Lions stars to return to their former employers – Newport Gwent Dragons for Lydiate and Cardiff Blues for Roberts – or to the Ospreys or Scarlets in the Champions Cup.

The new Rugby Services Agreement between the WRU and Regional Rugby Wales saw the introduction of dual contracts with the governing body picking up 60 per cent of the tab. Cardiff Blues flanker Sam Warburton is the only player currently on such a deal.
