BRITISH Under-18 speedway champion Jerran Hart and recent World 80cc champion Anders Mellgrem from Sweden complete the 16-rider line-up for the New Year Classic to be staged at Newport Speedway on Sunday, January 3, with tapes up at 1pm.

He will make his debut on these shores alongside fellow debutants Robert and Daniel Henderson, who are also Swedish, plus Hungarian newcomer Joszef Tabaka. The field also includes former NYC winners David Howe and Brent Werner, plus Kevin Doolan who won both the Prince of Wales Trophy and the Welsh Open Championship in the 2009 season. * Kyle Newman is to ride for the Newport Hornets speedway team in the 2010 National League campaign and is seeking a hat-trick of league winners’ medals!
Newman, 18, was with the Weymouth Wildcats in season 2008 and the Bournemouth Bucanneers in season 2009 when they won the sport’s third division title.
Unfortunately, he finished the season on the injured list after breaking his left thigh in six places after a crash at Newport’s Queensway Meadows track during the Welsh Junior Championships in October.
He is at present recuperating in Australia and looking forward to riding for his parent club next season. Kyle did make a number of appearances for the Newport Wasps Premier League team last season.
Newport co-promoter Nick Mallett said: “I am really pleased to have Kyle on board for the 2010 season.
“The excitement he brings is second to none with his all out style. Obviously, when I heard that he did not feature in Bournemouth’s plans I agreed a deal with Kyle.”
