Richard Gere and Diane Lane both bring integrity to their latest movie Nights In Rodanthe, according to its director.

"They bring the specifics of their own individual lives," says George C Wolfe, who directed the pair in the romantic tearjerker.

"Both of them being parents, both of them being very successful, both of them being in relationships means they bring all their history and their knowledge, not only as actors but as human beings.

"And also, [they bring] an incredible sense of integrity to these characters and to this film."

And although the film features lead actors both over the age of 40, George hopes the movie, released in the UK this week, will appeal to audiences of all ages.

"I hope it will appeal to all age groups, but you really don't think about that when you're doing the project," he says.

"You just try to create something which is seductive and intelligent and real and compelling and honest. So that's my job.

"Other people can think about who it needs to reach. My job is to work with the actors and artists involved and tell as beautiful and compelling a story as possible."
