JAMES Gwenda May (nee Williams) Suddenly at the Royal Gwent Hospital on March 13th, Gwenda, aged 79 years, retired Midwife, formerly of Christchurch. Much loved wife of Peter, mother of Helen, mother in law of Wayne, grandmother of Sophie, William and Oliver and sister of Evelyn and Beryl. Funeral Wednesday April 3rd, service at St Thomas a Becket Church, Shirenewton at 2.30pm followed by interment in the churchyard. Family flowers only please. Sign in to add a tributeMy daughter had a diagnosis of Downs Syndrome at birth and I lost count of the doctors, nurses, specialists and paramedics we saw in the weeks that followed.
Mrs James was one of just two medical professionals who treated me like I'd just had a baby and my daughter like any other new born baby. There was no doom, no gloom, no sadness and no worry from her at all. She was a ray of light at an otherwise dark time for us and I'll always be grateful to her for that. Good night, God bless Mrs James. Lots of love from me and my beautiful daughter who turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me, just like you said she would. XX
