BENNETTS John E. On Thursday 22nd July 2021, Watchmaker John of Newport passed away peacefully at Royal Gwent Hospital, aged 84. Beacon of light and laughter, beloved husband of Jean, adored father, brother and grandfather. Due to the current restrictions, a private family funeral will be held on Friday 6th August 2021 at Langstone Vale Crematorium. Mourners are welcome to their pay respects outside the crematorium during the service. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made directly to Cancer Research UK in memory of John. I recently received a message that John passed away last July. Whenever I visited Newport I always made my way to John at his shop for a catch-up, however, during the past few years, this proved difficult. I've known John for more than 55 years, he knew everyone in my family, in fact, John knew everyone. His humour was extraordinary and was indeed a light, my sincere condolences to his family.
