JAMES Aneurin Byron (known as Nye) It is with great sadness that the family of Nye James announces his passing on 4th May 2022 at the age of 87. Nye, who was Mayor of Torfaen 2008-09, was born in Cwmfelinfach and died peacefully of old age at the home of his daughter Carol in Stourbridge. He will be remembered with love and pride by his brother Cecil, his sister Marion, his children, Jeffrey, Carol, Hywel, and Gareth, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was much loved by his wife Maris, daughter Marilyn, and grandson Mark, who pre-deceasesd him. The funeral service will take place at Holy Trinity church in Pontnewydd on Thursday 26th May at 2:00 p.m. This will be followed by a private cremation service, for family only, at the Gwent Crematorium, Croesyceiliog at 3:30 p.m. Family and friends are then invited to join together at Greenmeadow Golf Club for refreshments and to remember Nye. Letters and cards of condolence may be sent to the family c/o Carol Weston at 33, Rosemary Lane, Norton, Stourbridge, DY8 3EP. Funeral arrangements entrusted to VA Peterson Funeral Service Ltd., Woodside House, Maendy Way, Pontnewydd, Cwmbran, Torfaen, NP44 3LH. Family flowers only please, but charitable donations will be gratefully received for Ty Hafan Children's Hospice & Torfaen Museum and can be sent to the funeral directors.
