Rhoddir rhybudd trwy hyn bod Corff Adnoddau Naturiol Cymru a enwir yn Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru yn ystyried Chwarel a Mwyngloddfa Penarth
yn Safle o Ddiddordeb Gwyddonol Arbennig (SoDdGA).
Mae Chwarel a Mwyngloddfa Penarth o ddiddordeb arbennig oherwydd eu ffosilau (Paleobotaneg Paleosoig) a'u poblogaeth o ystlumod pedol lleiaf Rhinolophus hipposideros sy'n gaeafgysgu. Mae'r safle wedi'i leoli tua milltir i'r dwyrain o Gorwen yn Awdurdod Lleol Sir Ddinbych ac ar ochr ogleddol rhostir Berwyn. Mae tir glas sy'n cael ei bori a gyda pherthi i'r dwyrain a'r de, ar oleddf tuag at waelod Dyffryn Dyfrdwy. Mae coetir conwydd wedi'i leoli yn syth i'r gorllewin o'r safle. Mae SoDdGA Chwarel a Mwyngloddfa Penarth yn cynnwys y chwarel segur, gweithfeydd cloddio helaeth a thomenni rwbel a grewyd yn sgil cloddio llechi yn y bedwaredd ganrif ar bymtheg a'r ugeinfed ganrif. Canolir y safle ar Gyfeirnod Grid SJT10422. 0 dan yr hysbysiad hwn mae'n ofynnol i bob perchennog a deiliaid hysbysu'r CNC am rai gweithrediadau arbennig a allai amharu ar ddiddordeb arbennig y safle. Gall methu a gwneud hynny fod yn gyfystyr a throsedd. Nld yw*r hysbysiad hwn yn rhol unrhyw hawllau mynedlad I SoDdGA Chwarel a Mwyngloddfa Penarth. NOTIFICATION OF ENLARGEMENT OF CHWAREL A MWYNGLODDFA PENARTH SSSI UNDER SECTION 28C 0) AND PARTIAL DENOTIFICATION UNDER SECTION 28D 0) OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981, (AS AMENDED) Notice is hereby given that the Natural Resource Body for Wales otherwise known as Natural Resources Wales considers Chwarel a Mwyngloddfa Penarth to be a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
Chwarel a Mwyngloddfa Penarth is of special interest for its fossils (Palaeozoic Paleobotany) and its population of hibernating lesser horseshoe bats Rhinolophus hipposideros. The site is situated about a mile to the east of Corwen in the Local Authority of Denbighshire and lies on the northern edge of the Berwyn moorland. Grazed and hedged pastureland lies to the east and south, sloping down towards the floor of the Dee Valley. Conifer woodland lies immediately to the west of the site. Chwarel a Mwyngloddfa Penarth SSSI includes the disused quarry, extensive mine workings and spoil heaps resulting from slate extraction in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Centred on National Grid Reference SJ110422. Under this notification there is a requirement on all owners and occupiers to notify NRW of certain operations which may damage the special interest of the site. Failure to do so may constitute an offence.
This notification does not confer any rights of access to Chwarel a Mwyngloddfa Penarth SSSI. Any person with an interest in the land may make representations regarding the notification in writing to NRW at the address below by 14 February 2022.
