THERE are only a few days left to nominate your health and care heroes in the South Wales Argus Health And Care Awards.

The awards aim to recognise staff working in all areas of the health and care sector through 15 categories which reflect the range of work done within these sectors and organisations that provide essential services.

Hussain Bayoomi, managing director of the South Wales Argus, said: “We are looking forward to some outstanding entries from across the area, as we recognise individuals and teams from the across the whole health spectrum.

“There is outstanding work, care, innovation and services, across the health sector and it is important to focus on the people who have worked so hard and to tell their stories.”

The deadline nominations is 5pm on September 4.

You can nominate individuals and organisations in a number of categories including Health Care Professional of the Year, Healthy Neighbourhood Award and the Best Patient and Public Involvement Award.

If you have had great patient care from your doctors surgery staff you can nominate them for the GP Practice of the Year award. If your child has used a service and you think they deserve some recognition, then nominate them in the Early Years Award category.

The Healthy Neighbourhood award recognises groups or individuals who are working in areas that help get people moving, educating people on healthy eating, or improving residents’ mental health.

Nominations can also be made for Volunteer of the Year, Third Sector or Community Team of the Year, Mental Health Team of the Year, and the Hospital Team of the Year.

The awards have been backed by the Welsh Government’s health secretary Vaughan Gething, who spoke at the launch which was held at the Royal College of Nursing in Cardiff.

Finalists will attend a special presentation event at Chepstow Racecourse on October 19 where the winners will be announced.

Nominating someone, or an organisation, in any of the categories is free and can be done by filling in the simple online form.

You can nominate someone in more than one category, or nominate yourself if you work in the health or care sector.
