A time capsule meadow which has remained untouched by modern farming sold by Newport-based Paul Fosh Auctions for £12,000.

The idyllic piece of time warp grassland adjoins Camden Farm at Grafton Lock Meadow, near Farringdon, Oxfordshire.

The meadow, which is common land, is subject to rights to take grass in favour of an adjoining farm. Known as Grafton Lock Meadow and accessible only by foot, the field, which borders the River Thames, is approximately 12 acres in size.

The meadow was sold at the Paul Fosh Auctions sale at the Holiday Inn, Bristol.

Jay Ridsdale, of the auction company, said: “This really is an unusual piece of time capsule meadow land. It is a rare opportunity for someone to own this important piece of ecological and rural heritage which has remained untouched by modern or intensive farming over the years.”

The next Paul Fosh Auctions sales are on Thursday, February 8, in Cardiff, Tuesday, February 13 in Bristol and Thursday, February 15 in North Wales.
