Look closely at the later work of one of the greatest exponents of the British landscape tradition. John Constable was so much more than a painter of familiar chocolate-box scenes, and this online talk will show how Constable's work became increasingly free of traditional artistic constraints in his later years. Explore how the painter's landscapes capture the fleeting atmosphere and light of the British countryside, from his tiny sketchbooks to his famous 'Six-footers', and how he sought to realise his idea that 'Painting is but another word for feeling'. Online via Zoom with popular art history lecturer Eleanor Bird for MonLife Heritage Museums - but you don't have to be local, join us from wherever you are in the world. Lecture will be delivered live on two afternoons, choose from Sat 12 June 2-4pm, or Mon 14 June 2-4pm. To book: www.visitmonmouthshire.com/constable
