CHEPSTOW'S first ever food festival is happening this weekend.

The Wye Valley Food Festival will take place between 10am and 6pm, at Chepstow Racecourse, on Saturday and Sunday.

The event is free entry, including free parking, with a huge range of food and drink on offer from the Wye Valley and beyond.

Penny Lewis, of the Culinary Cottage Cookery School, will host the Chef's Theatre which will run talks and demonstrations from foragers, authors and bakers.

There will also be stalls, entertainment and live music, including a performance by Newport-based Tobias Robertson.

Other performers at the festival are The Rob Connolly Band, all female Tarion, Abergavenny singer-songwriter Rob Westall and his band, and acoustic guitarist Stephen Russell.

Sunshine Radio will be presenting from the event.

Organiser, Katharine Skellon, said: “The Wye Valley and surrounding areas have an amazing array of suppliers of great food and drink.

“Our mission is to bring people together to explore what’s on offer and have a great day out at our first foodie feast in Monmouthshire.

“It will offer a weekend of fun for all the family with live music, giving local musicians the opportunity to showcase their talent, fair rides, facepainting and a children’s activity corner.”
