X-Files stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have been photographed together for the first time, on the set of the revived show.

The duo will reprise their roles as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in the new series of sci-fi drama The X-Files, which has started shooting in Vancouver, Canada.

Both Gillian and David previously teased that the shoot had started with some cryptic tweets.

Mitch Pileggi has confirmed he will return to play Walter Skinner, alongside William B Davis as the Cigarette-Smoking Man, and Annabeth Gish and Robert Patrick, who played special agents Monica Reyes and John Doggett.

Joel McHale will also have a role, as an internet newsman.

The show’s creator Chris Carter will return to write and be an executive producer for the six new episodes, which mark the series’ return to the small screen nearly 15 years after it was cancelled.

The new X-Files instalments are set to premiere on Fox on January 24, 2016.
