Idris Elba has become the first man to grace the front cover of Maxim solo.
The Luther star wore an animal-print jacket as he posed alone for the September issue of the US magazine.
“We’ve never in US Maxim history had a man on the cover solo,” the magazine’s editor-in-chief Kate Lanphear told Racked.
“This is the very first time, and there was no one else in the world more badass than Idris. For me, he was really the perfect embodiment of what I think the new Maxim man is. He’s multi-dimensional, he’s complex, he’s sophisticated, but he’s down to earth.”
It’s the second record Idris has broken within days.
The 42-year-old star, who has also starred in TV series The Wire and movies such as Thor, Pacific Rim and Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, broke the 88-year-old land speed record set by Sir Malcolm Campbell.
Idris – who will appear in Star Trek Beyond in 2016 – set a new record when he drove a Bentley Continental GT Speed at 180.361 mph across Pendine Sands in Wales, surpassing Sir Malcolm’s past achievement in the Blue Bird.
