FRONTED by Buster Bloodvessel (born Douglas Trendle ), Bad Manners were formed in 1976 while the members were together at Woodberry Down Comprehensive School, near Manor House, North London.

They were at their most popular during the early 1980s, during a period when other ska revival bands such as Madness,The Specials and The Selecter, filled the charts. Bad Manners spent 111 weeks in the UK Singles Chart between 1980 and 1983 and they also achieved chart success with their first four studio albums.

After becoming popular in their native London, Bad Manners signed to Magnet Records in 1980 for a six-igure sum, and became regular guests on TV shows like Tiswas.

Some of their more notable hits include My Girl Lollipop, Lip Up Fatty, Can Can, Lorraine, Just A Feeling and Special Brew. One of the main reasons for their notoriety, was their outlandish, huge-tongued and shaven-headed frontman, Buster Bloodvessel. His manic exploits got them banned from TV’s Top of the Pops.

Fast forward 36 years from their beginning as a band and they have had more break-ups, make-ups, hit singles, world tours and TV appearances than we could even begin to try and list. What we do know for definite is that Bad Manners are one of the UK’s favourite live bands of the past 30 years and on May 10, they will perform at The Globe, Cardiff, as part of their now annual UK tour, bringing along special guest support for the ultimate party night out.
