TWO classic rock names perform under one roof Ebbw Vale’s Beaufort Theatre & Ballroom tonight when the Groundhogs and Stray come to town in a double headliner.

The Groundhogs, led by Tony McPhee, have had many successful years in the music business including huge chart success with albums like ‘Split’.

After disbanding in 2004 following a short period with the ‘Original Line Up’ to celebrate 40 years of The Groundhogs, McPhee once again put together a new line up in 2007.

Now in 2009, the latest line up comprises of McPhee and two previous long-time Groundhog members, bassist Dave Anderson and drummer Mick Jones.

Stray have also enjoyed years of success. Throughout the 1970s they played at some major gigs on the same bill as the likes of Status Quo, Ten Years After, Canned Heat, Black Sabbath and Kiss, proving they had to hold their own whilst playing with such strong bands.

Tickets for tonight’s gig, which kicks off at 8pm, cost £13.50 and £11 for Blues Club Members For further information, contact the box office on 01495 355800 or visit www.blaenaugwentvenues.com
