A SPECIAL calendar marking 100 years of photography at Newport’s university is now on sale across the city.

The calendar features photographs of iconic Newport locations taken by amateur snappers who were named the winners in an Argus-sponsored competition.

On sale for just £5.50, all proceeds from the sale of the calendar will go to the Argus-backed Sparkle Appeal.

Sparkle raises money for the Serennu Children’s Centre at High Cross in Newport, the purpose-built centre that provides care, treatment and activities for children and young people with disabilities and developmental difficulties from Newport, South Monmouthshire and South Torfaen.

The calendar was organised and produced by the University of Wales, Newport, to mark 100 years of photography courses in the city.

The following outlets in Newport’s Kingsway Centre are selling the calendar:

• Dolman Theatre
• Centre Management Suite
• Taylors
• Eazilibity
• Nimble Fingers
• Crafty For Coal
• Twinkle Twinkle
• Carole’s Crafts

The calendar is also on sale over the front counter at the Argus offices on Cardiff Road, Newport; at the university’s Caerleon and city centre campuses; at Ysgol Gymraeg Ifor Hael; and at the Serennu Children’s Centre at High Cross.

Meanwhile, fundraisers from the Sparkle Appeal will be manning a special stall in the Kingsway Centre on Monday selling the calendar and Christmas cards in aid of the appeal.
