A 33-YEAR-old man from Marshfield has died following a road accident near Newport last night.
The collision happened at around 8.05pm on Marshfield Road in Marshfield involving a green Proton Persona car and a white Ford Transit van.
The 33-year-old man, who was driving the Proton Persona car, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport where he later died.
Nobody else was injured in the collision.
The road was closed while the vehicles were recovered and investigations were carried out.
Gwent Police is appealing for witnesses. Anyone who saw the collision should call them on 101 or call the collision investigation unit on 01633 642404.
