AN EXTENSIVE search of the River Severn was carried out yesterday evening for a missing person.
Police officers, SARA, RAF helicopters and Swansea Coastguard were involved in the operation, following reports a man had jumped from the Second Severn Crossing at around 5.25pm.
Gwent Police said enquiries are continuing to locate a 36-year-old man from the Birmingham area.
Mervyn Fleming, Severn Area Rescue Association's area commander west, said SARA lifeboats 1 and 3 were deployed to look for the man under the bridge, but nothing was found.
