THE caretaker of a Caerleon infant school hanged himself from one of the school buildings while depressed, an inquest heard yesterday.
Gwent Coroner's Court sitting at Newport heard Dennis Robertson, 62, of Caerleon, hanged himself on September 27 2012 after becoming depressed and worried after suffering from stomach problems.
Gwent Coroner David Bowen heard that on the morning of Mr Robertson's death he had gone to work as normal, but when he did not return home after his shift his daughter, Claire Josephine Rose, went to the school and was told her father had hanged himself.
Mr Bowen told the court Mr Robertson's death was "so much out of character, he must have been suffering from some form of worry or depression."
The coroner recorded that Mr Robertson killed himself while depressed.
