A HAULAGE firm paid tribute last night to a driver from Gwent who died in a crash in Carmarthenshire.

Yesterday Dyfed Powys Police named the lorry driver who died in the A48 crash as Alexander Ratcliffe Jones, from Raglan.

Officers said the 26-year-old died after the crash on the Maesybont junction in Carmarthenshire shortly before 6am on April 11.

Peter Keates, CEO of Chepstow haulage company Zenith Logistics, where he worked, described Mr Jones as an “outstanding gentleman”.

Paying tribute to the HGV driver who had worked for the company for nine months, he said: “You couldn’t want for a better employee. He was a lovely man. He was a wonderful young man and a model employee and driver.

Nothing was ever too much and he was loved by everyone who knew him and was such good fun.

“He will be greatly missed by his colleagues.

“Our hearts go out to his mum, dad and sister.”

Dyfed-Powys Police said the collision involved two heavy goods vehicles and that the road was closed throughout the morning.

An inquest was opened and adjourned on April 12.
