TORFAEN’S exciting summer events season kicks off next month with the third annual Big Event at Cwmbran boating lake.
Thousands of people flocked to the lake and parks last year for a day of fun, music and sport.
This year’s event takes place on June 8 and will feature the star of Torfaen council’s viral video, In the Depot, Elvis impersonator Darren ‘Graceland’ Jones.
The day will include sporting competitions, craft and food stalls and a large covered stage for a wide variety of music and dance acts.
Most activities will be free.
Cllr Bob Wellington, the leader of Torfaen council, said: “Last year’s event was a massive success and we will be looking to build on that again this year.
“More than 10,000 people enjoyed a day of sport, games and music and we’re hoping this year’s event will be just as popular as it aims to celebrate physical and cultural activities in Torfaen.
“We’re hoping for good weather again this year but plans are in place for any bad weather so the showcan go on, rain or shine, and I’m confident Torfaen residents will turn up in their thousands again.”
