THE Indian Doctor has returned to Blaenavon as filming begins on series three.

The star of Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars at No 42, Sanjeev Bhaskar, again plays Dr Prem Sharma, alongside his wife Kamini, played by Ayesha Dharker (Coronation Street).

Mali Harries, from The Fabulous Baker Boys, returns as Megan Evans with husband PC Emlyn Dorkins, played by Alun Ap Brinley from Pobol y Cwm.

The new series will be aired on BBC Wales in the autumn and builds on the success of the first two.

Set in 1966, this series sees the return to Trefelin of the Thomas brothers, Basil and Robert. Robert is a Harley Street doctor who quickly sets about signing up many of Prem’s patients for his new medical practice.

Basil has an ambitious plan to build a complete new town in place of the old village The crew from Rondo Media and Avatar Productions began filming in Broad Street, Blaenavon last week and this week, with further scenes to be shot elsewhere.
