AN INQUISITIVE male swan took to crossing a road to look at its own reflection in a bus stop.
The swan lives on Llantarnam Ponds in Cwmbran and has been spotted by office workers crossing Llantarnam Park Way to inspect the bus stop while the pen and nine cygnets wait on a bank.
It has been witnessed daily, and staff contacted Swan Rescue in Newport fearing the family might get hit by traffic, as they have also been spotted crossing as a group.
A spokesman from Swan Rescue said the swan believes the reflection is another family of swans.
He added: “Families of swans can be territorial and it’s possible they have been confused by their reflection. Our main concern is that they’re crossing a busy road.”
As the swan gets up close to the glass, he has been seen to hiss, peck and flap his wings. Torfaen council has now put a film over the glass to prevent the reflection.
