PARENTS and their children enjoyed a healthy breakfast together last week as they tucked in to Coed Eva Primary School’s family breakfast club.
The Cwmbran school had its second ever family breakfast club last Friday morning, June 28, serving a choice of cereals, toast and fruit.
Gill Ellis, head teacher at the school for the past four and a half years, established the monthly sessions as an addition to the school’s existing daily breakfast club for pupils.
Around 120 children attend the daily breakfast club, while a further 69 parents and siblings came along to the inaugural family morning in May, supported by Torfaen council’s catering department free of charge for two months.
Children go free but next month there will be a nominal charge of 50p per parent.
“Nobody else in Torfaen has done this and, as far as I know, no one else in Wales,” said Mrs Gill.
