THIS delightful puppy is safely back in the arms of her owners as police continue to probe her disappearance from a family's garden in the Valleys.

Luna's disappearance on August 16 had baffled those closest to her.

An anonymous tip-off revealed she may have been tossed over a garden fence and stolen to order.

Police raided a house and discovered the nine week-old Huskamute playing with children in Penyrheol, Caerphilly

A man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and Luna was scooped up and returned to Clos Ceirw, Fair View, Blackwood, on Wednesday evening.

It could not have been a better time, as Colin Turley was celebrating his 57th birthday with girlfriend Patricia Mathias, 58, their friends and family.

Ms Mathias said: "Colin's niece Kelly opened the door and she started screaming saying 'she's home, she's home!' It was a very emotional moment."

Cuddly Luna went straight up to her mother Coco and they have been inseparable since.

News of Luna's plight reached far and wide, a Facebook group set up to help find her was viewed more than 40,000 times and was liked by 1,270 people.

Messages of support came in from across the world, including several from an Arctic expedition husky team.

"Over the last 12 days I have had just a couple of hours sleep, I have been manning the website day and night," said Ms Mathias.

"Colin knew I was heartbroken. He has had three heart attacks this year and has to have oxygen 24 hours a day. To be honest we never thought we were going to get Luna back."

Ms Mathias is thanking everyone individually on Facebook who showed concern for Luna's welfare and PC 2005 Alan Tinsley, who led the investigation.

She added: "I'd like to thank both Craig Nutt, known as Elmo and Nicolas Stevens for looking for Luna."

She plans to keep the group open and post regular updates about the treasured dog- Coco's only surviving puppy out of seven during a complicated birth in June.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said a 34-year-old man from Caerphilly was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and has since been released with no further action taken.

Officers are continuing to investigate the case and say further arrests may be made.

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting log 654 on August 16.
