ONE of the hardest-working tribute bands will be back in town this weekend to pay homage to legendary Irish band Thin Lizzy.

Taking their name from the Limehouse basin in the East End of London where they hail from, Limehouse Lizzy have just completed their 12th year in the business.

Get ready for top-notch renditions of Dancing In The Moonlight, Don't Believe A Word, Sarah, Jailbreak, and the classic The Boys Are Back In Town.

Those are some of the greatest hits of the band which formed in late 1969 in Dublin.

A hard rock band with a visceral edge, Thin Lizzy were fronted by the instantly recognisable figure of Phil Lynott, who at the time was the "only black man in Ireland", as Bono would later say.

Their first hit, Whisky in the Jar, was a hugely imaginative rock 'n' roll update of an Irish folk song.

Throughout the 1970s they became known for their no-nonsense, no special effects live shows, which relied purely on the music and Lynott's rapport with fans.

The band split in 1984 with Lynott going solo. He died two years later after long-term addictions to heroin and alcohol.

Limehouse Lizzy play The Point, Cardiff on Saturday, December 30. Doors open 7.30pm, and tickets are £10. Book online at www.thepointcardiffbay.com or call 029 2046 0873.
