A 40-YEAR-OLD man from Tredegar has been banned from nine Gwent shops after being given a Criminal Anti-Social Behaviour Order (CRASBO).

Jason Price, of Tredegar, had the order placed upon him by Newport Magistrates’ Court on December 30 2013, after he was caught shoplifting from a garage in Tredegar.

CRASBO’s are Anti-Social Behaviour Orders made on conviction of a criminal offence.

The purpose of a CRASBO is to protect members of the public from anti-social behaviour.

Price is also banned from going to Gwent Shopping Centre, Commercial Street and Castle Street in Tredegar between the hours of 8am and 6pm until December 2016.

The shops Price is banned from were all repeat victims of his offending.

The CRASBO prohibits Price from entering Tesco Express in Tredegar, The Original Factory Shop in Tredegar, Home Bargains in Tredegar, David Taylor Garage in Tredegar, Boots the Chemist in Tredegar, Aldi Store in Ebbw Vale, Poundstretcher in Ebbw Vale, Home Bargains in Ebbw Vale and a branch ofLloyds Pharmacy in Ebbw Vale.

If Price breaches this CRASBO and enters any one of the named premises, he may be fined or sent to prison for up to five years.

PC Andy Green, the Crime and Disorder Reduction Officer for Tredegar, said: “We hope that this CRASBO will help reassure traders and shoppers that shoplifting in Blaenau Gwent will not be tolerated.

“Some people believe that shoplifting is a minor offence but theft is a crime and shoplifters are criminals. Small retailers can face many financial implications of shoplifting and invariably the costs are added on for law abiding customers at the till.

“This case should also act as a clear deterrent to any other would–be shoplifters, if you come to Blaenau Gwent intent on shoplifting, you will be arrested, prosecuted and potentially banned from all stores.”
