A NEWPORT pop singer and music graduate from the University of South Wales has co-written a hit song for boy band Union J.
Jon Maguire, best known for being one half of duo Lilygreen and Maguire, co-wrote the song Beautiful Life which reached number eight in the UK charts. The track was released by the pop quartet Union J, who finished fourth in the 2013 series of The X Factor.
Mr Maguire, who graduated from the University of South Wales in 2011, said despite his previous success, achieving a chart place for a song he has co-written “tops it all”.
Matthew Lovett, the creative sound and music course leader at the University of South Wales said it was “a remarkable achievement for Jon.”
