CHILDREN at two Newport hospitals were given a treat this week, when the Easter bunny arrived in the form of the mayor and deputy mayor of Newport.
Children at the Royal Gwent Hospital and patients at St Woolos Hospital were visited by mayor Cliff Suller, mayoress Christine Suller, deputy mayor Trevor Watkins and deputy mayoress Jean Watkins, who brought dozens of Easter eggs.
This follows another Easter visit to the childrens’ wards, where a larger-than-life monkey – who was featured in Wednesday’s Argus – delivered treats from Tesco, Spytty, which had donated eggs for the young patients and nurses.
The group visited four wards including the stroke ward at St Woolos Hospital, as part of the annual visit that has been going on since 2010.
