MOST of the homes left without gas in Nantyglo have had their supply turned back on today.
A Wales & West Utilities spokesman said they have managed to reconnect the gas supply to the majority of properties hit when a leak in a water main cut gas supplies to the town on Thursday.
Gas engineers are working with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water to reconnect those homes still without gas because their appliances need to be repaired or replaced, due to water damage.
The spokesman added it had been a "mammoth effort" involving about 60 engineers at a time working 24 hours a day and removing over 150,000 litres of water from 10 kms of the gas network.
He said they were now working on the parts of the network that were harder to reach to finish the repair job.
