SANTA’s Christmas grotto was officially opened by the mayor of Newport on Saturday.
Councillor Matthew Evans visited Santa and his elves at the Kingsway Shopping Centre, Newport.
The St David’s Foundation Hospice Care Christmas Grotto is supported by the shopping centre.
The first to meet Santa were siblings Tom and Elizabeth Roberts who won the Kingsway Kids Club competition earlier in the year.
Santa’s Grotto will next open between 10am and 4pm on November 29.
During December it will open on a Saturday between 10am and 4pm, and on a Sunday between 11am and 2pm.
On Christmas Eve Santa will be in his grotto between 10am and midday, and between 11am and 4.30pm during the week (with late-night shopping on a Thursday).
It costs £4 to visit Santa in his grotto or £6 for a visit, gift and photo.
St David’s Foundation Hospice Care provides bespoke, individual care for patients and their families.
It works alongside patients and hope to support them at the most difficult times of their lives.
